June 30, 2026  ·  10 min read

The Tata Sierra EV launched today — and if you are trying to figure out which of the 8 variants makes sense for you, what the on-road price actually works out to in your city, or what features you gain as you step up through the lineup, this is the guide that explains it all without jargon. We have gone through Tata''s official specifications page, the variant breakdown, and third-party city-wise pricing data so you do not have to.

Quick Answer

The Tata Sierra EV is available in 8 variants from ₹18.79 lakh to ₹25.99 lakh (ex-showroom). There are three persona groups — Pure, Adventure, and Empowered — across two battery sizes (63 kWh and 75 kWh) and two drivetrain options (RWD and AWD). The AWD (QWD) is only available on the top variant at ₹25.99 lakh. The 75 kWh battery with its 665 km range starts from the Adventure 75 RWD at ₹22.19 lakh. For most buyers, the Adventure 75 RWD at ₹22.19 lakh is the sweet spot — you get the bigger battery and longer range without paying for the full Empowered feature stack.

Within each, you get a choice of 63 kWh or 75 kWh battery where applicable, and the top Empowered A variant adds AWD on the 75 kWh pack. Here is the complete official price list as of June 30, 2026.

Empowered A 75 AWD 75 kWh 624 km* AWD (QWD) ₹25.99 lakh

*AWD variant range is slightly lower at 624 km because the second motor adds weight. All prices ex-showroom Delhi. On-road prices vary by state — see city-wise breakdown below.

Which Variant Should You Buy?

₹18–20L Pure 63 RWD and Pure S 63 RWD For: Entry buyer, strict budget, urban use

The Pure variants are the entry point into Sierra EV ownership. You get the full Sierra EV platform and 535 km claimed range (a real-world figure closer to 400-420 km in mixed conditions), but miss out on several features that step-up variants add — things like Level 2 ADAS, the panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and the larger boot space configuration. If your daily commute is urban and under 40 km each way, the 63 kWh battery is genuinely sufficient. The Pure S adds some features over the base Pure — specific differences will be confirmed in the detailed variant matrix from Tata, but typically include additional comfort and infotainment features.

Battery: 63 kWh · Range: 535 km claimed · RWD
Best for: First-time EV buyers on a budget, urban daily commuters
On-road Delhi approx: ₹19.76–₹21.00 lakh
₹21–22L Adventure 63 RWD and Adventure 75 RWD For: Best value sweet spot — most buyers

The Adventure variants are where the Sierra EV hits its sweet spot for most buyers. At ₹20.99 lakh for the 63 kWh version and ₹22.19 lakh for the 75 kWh version, you get a meaningfully better feature set than the Pure variants — including more safety features, better infotainment, and the higher-quality materials Tata reserves for mid-spec. The Adventure 75 RWD at ₹22.19 lakh is our specific standout pick — you get the 75 kWh battery with 665 km claimed range for just ₹1.20 lakh more than the Adventure 63 RWD. If you are going to live with this car for 5-6 years, the 130 km extra range buffer in the larger battery is worth the upgrade at that price gap.

Adventure 75 RWD: 75 kWh · 665 km · ₹22.19 lakh → Best value pick
Best for: Mixed city + highway users, families, buyers wanting long range without top-spec pricing
On-road Delhi approx: ₹23.30 lakh (Adventure 75 RWD)
₹23–26L Empowered 63, Empowered 75, Empowered A 75 RWD/AWD For: Premium buyers, all features, AWD

The Empowered range unlocks the Sierra EV''s full feature set — everything Tata has packed into this car is available here. Powered and ventilated front seats with memory function, the premium 8-speaker sound system, full Level 2 ADAS suite, AR head-up display, connected car features, Auto Park and Summon mode, and on the top variant, the QWD (AWD) dual-motor drivetrain that delivers 0-100 in 5.8 seconds. The Empowered A 75 AWD at ₹25.99 lakh is the only way to get all-wheel drive — it is the car for buyers who want no compromises on performance, features, or driveability. Note that the AWD variant''s claimed range is 624 km, slightly lower than the RWD 75 kWh's 665 km due to the additional motor weight.

AWD only on: Empowered A 75 AWD (₹25.99 lakh)
Best for: Performance buyers, premium feature seekers, all-weather driving
On-road Delhi approx: ₹27.50+ lakh (AWD top variant)

Ex-showroom is only part of what you pay. On-road price includes RTO registration charges, insurance, and dealer handling charges. These vary significantly by state. On-road estimates based on standard RTO and insurance rates as of June 2026. Maharashtra has higher registration charges than Delhi. Some states like Gujarat and Delhi offer additional EV subsidies — ask your dealer for the current applicable benefit. Always confirm exact on-road price with an authorised Tata Motors dealer before booking.

Exterior Design — What Tata Kept and What Changed

Tata made a smart decision with the Sierra EV''s exterior — they kept almost everything that makes the Sierra''s design distinctive while making only the minimum changes to mark it as an EV. This means buyers get the iconic boxy silhouette, the signature "Alpine Window" styling effect with the chunky B-pillar panel, and the muscular upright stance that is immediately recognisable as a Sierra from any angle.

The EV-specific exterior changes are deliberate and well-executed. At the front, the functional black grille of the ICE Sierra is replaced with a body-coloured blanked-off panel — cleaner and more premium looking. A connected LED DRL bar runs across the full width of the bonnet, paired with split LED headlamps with cornering lights below. The bumper gets piano black treatment with a silver skid plate accent. Flush-fitting door handles, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with piano black wheel arch cladding, and the Tata.EV logo on the front door complete the profile.

At the rear, the connected LED tail lamp is retained from the ICE Sierra, and "Sierra.EV" wordmark sits just above the bumper line. The charging port is located on the left rear fender with an illuminated ring that shows charging status.

Sierra EV Colours — All 7 Options

Tata has given the Sierra EV a thoughtful colour palette, with names drawn from Indian destinations — a nice touch that reinforces the Indian identity of the product:

  • Pristine White — available across variants
  • Coorg Clouds — muted silver-grey, available across variants
  • Andaman Adventure — adventure-themed, mid and above
  • Bengal Rouge — deep red, mid and above
  • Pure Grey — entry variants
  • Rishikesh Rapids — bright, adventure-spirit tone
  • Nainital Nocturneexclusive to QWD/AWD variants

Interior — What''s Inside the Sierra EV Cabin

The interior of the Sierra EV carries over the ICE Sierra''s layout but with EV-specific updates and the full feature stack on upper variants. The signature feature is the triple-screen dashboard — a setup that was genuinely class-leading when the ICE Sierra introduced it:

📺 Triple Screen Setup 10.25" + 12.3" + 12.3"

The dashboard is anchored by three screens side by side — a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment display. The passenger screen is a genuine novelty in this price segment — allowing the front passenger to stream content, navigate, or access connected services independently.

Digital instrument cluster: 10.25 inch
Infotainment: 12.3 inch touchscreen
Passenger display: 12.3 inch (front passenger)

Other interior highlights confirmed at launch:

  • Powered and ventilated front seats with memory functionDriver''s seat remembers your position and adjusts automatically on entry — a feature typically found in cars costing ₹10-15 lakh more.
  • Panoramic glass roofThe iconic glass roof concept from the original Sierra is modernised here — a large panoramic unit that floods the cabin with light while meeting current safety regulations.
  • AR Head-Up DisplayAugmented Reality HUD that overlays navigation and key driving information onto the windscreen view — genuinely useful for highway driving and navigation without taking eyes off the road.
  • 8-speaker sound system + soundbar in dashboardTata retained the soundbar integrated into the dashboard from the ICE Sierra — a distinctive design element that doubles as a functional audio feature.
  • Dual-zone climate control with touch controlsFront and rear zones independently controlled. Note: the climate control panel uses touch-sensitive controls on a piano black surface — functional but susceptible to fingerprints and scratches, a consistent Tata design trade-off.
  • Rear AC vents, Type-C charging ports, and window sunshadesRear passengers get proper climate control, fast charging for devices, and pull-down sunshades for privacy and sun protection.
  • Auto Park and Summon ModeThe car can park itself in a perpendicular bay with no one inside it, and can be called out of a tight spot remotely via the iRA.ev app — a genuinely useful feature in Indian urban parking conditions.

One important note: the Sierra EV has not yet been tested by Global NCAP as of launch day. Tata did demonstrate a crash test at the launch event as a confidence signal, but independent NCAP ratings are still pending. Given the ICE Sierra''s strong structural foundation, the EV version is expected to perform well when tested.

Connected Features — iRA.ev and Arcade.ev

The Sierra EV comes with Tata''s iRA.ev connected car platform — 4 years of services from activation date, beginning with 1 year of the Ultra Pack (full features) followed by 3 years of Essential Pack access. After the subscription period, features can be re-subscribed at the buyer''s option.

The Arcade.ev in-car entertainment platform provides 1 year of access with option to renew. This includes game streaming, video apps, and the Drive Pay UPI payment system built into the car — letting you pay at toll booths and fuel stations directly from the vehicle without touching your phone.

Digi Access digital key lets you use your phone to lock, unlock, and start the car — shareable with family members without handing over physical keys. Works via NFC and app on compatible devices.

V2L (Vehicle to Load) — the Sierra EV can power external devices at up to 3.3 kW, and on compatible variants, up to 5 kVA via V2H/V2V. Useful for outdoor trips, power cuts, or emergency device charging.

Sierra EV vs Key Rivals — Quick Comparison

Model Starting Price Max Range AWD Boot Space Airbags
Tata Sierra EV ₹18.79L 665 km ✅ ₹25.99L 622 L 6
Hyundai Creta Electric ~₹18.02L 473 km 433 L 6
Mahindra BE 6 ~₹18.90L 557 km 455 L 6
Tata Curvv EV ₹17.49L 585 km 500 L 6
Maruti e Vitara ~₹17L ~500 km ✅ Top trim ~490 L 6

The Sierra EV leads this comparison on range (665 km), boot space (622 litres — significantly ahead of all rivals), and AWD availability. The Creta Electric has the edge on starting price and Hyundai''s proven service network. The Mahindra BE 6 competes on design and performance. The Curvv EV is Tata''s own lower-priced alternative for buyers who prefer the coupe-SUV body style over the Sierra''s boxy upright stance.

Sierra EV — Practical Buying Checklist

  • Book today — Bookings opened June 30, deliveries begin July 15. Early booking is especially important if you want a specific colour (Nainital Nocturne is AWD-only; Andaman Adventure may be limited)
  • Ask your dealer about state EV subsidies — Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra have active EV subsidy schemes that can reduce on-road price meaningfully beyond what the ex-showroom figure suggests
  • Confirm the lifetime battery warranty terms carefully — "Lifetime" is 15 years from first registration, but it becomes void on ownership transfer (reverts to 10 year / 2,00,000 km warranty)
  • The Adventure 75 RWD at ₹22.19 lakh is the variant most buyers should target — 665 km range, decent feature set, and meaningful savings versus the full Empowered stack
  • Check home charging access before finalising — confirm your apartment society permits charger installation, or map the nearest Tata Mega Charger to your home and office. Our EV buying guide covers the charging infrastructure question in full detail
  • Insure correctly — at ₹19-28 lakh on-road, comprehensive insurance with zero depreciation add-on is essential. See our best car insurance guide

⚠️ Prices and availability: All prices are ex-showroom as of June 30, 2026 launch day and subject to change. On-road price estimates are indicative — actual figures vary by state, applicable EV subsidies, insurance package chosen, and dealer. Always confirm with your local authorised Tata Motors dealer. ADAS features are driver assist systems and do not replace attentive driving.

The Adventure 75 RWD at ₹22.19 Lakh Is Where Most Buyers Should Land.

Of the 8 variants, the Adventure 75 RWD gives you the biggest bang for the rupee — you get the 75 kWh battery with 665 km range, a decent feature set, and avoid paying for the full Empowered stack unless those specific features genuinely matter to you. The AWD top variant at ₹25.99 lakh is for buyers who specifically want performance or off-road capability and are willing to pay the premium. The Pure 63 RWD is a credible entry point for strict-budget urban buyers. Everything in between has its logic — now you know what you get at each price point.

The Adventure 75 RWD recommendation makes complete sense. Was debating whether to step up from the Adventure 63 for ₹1.20 lakh extra and get the 665 km range. Decided yes — for a car I plan to keep 7 years the bigger battery future-proofs the purchase considerably. Booking done.
Author Reply · Just now
Exactly the right call for a 7-year ownership plan — ₹1.20 lakh spread over 7 years is ₹17,000/year, and the range buffer on the 75 kWh pack gives you meaningfully more flexibility on longer trips without needing to plan charging stops.

The boot space comparison is the thing that sold me on the Sierra EV over the Creta Electric. 622 litres vs 433 litres is not a marginal difference — that is almost 200 litres. For a family of 5 with luggage it is the difference between a comfortable road trip and a game of Tetris every time you load the car.

The battery warranty clarification is something I had not read carefully anywhere else — the lifetime warranty becoming void on resale (reducing to 10 year / 2,00,000 km) is important information if you are thinking of this as a car you might sell after 3-4 years. That changes the value proposition slightly versus keeping it long-term.
