Which Maruti Fronx Variant to Buy?

Best CNG Delta+ CNG MT — Best Running Economy in Segment ~₹7.90L ex / ₹9.19L Delhi — 28.51 km/kg CNG, ₹2.50/km Running Cost

The Fronx CNG has a running cost of ₹2.50 per km at ₹70/kg CNG — assuming a daily run of 50 km, monthly fuel cost is approximately ₹3,750. At 28.51 km/kg, the Fronx CNG delivers the best mileage among CNG compact crossovers — significantly better than the Tata Nexon iCNG (17.44 km/kg, turbocharged) because the Fronx CNG uses the 1.2L naturally aspirated engine which is more efficient in CNG mode. The Fronx CNG's 28.51 km/kg competes with the Brezza CNG (25.51 km/kg) and the WagonR CNG (34.05 km/kg — lighter car). For buyers who do 1,500 km/month in a CNG city and want a stylish coupe-crossover body at under ₹10L on road, the Delta+ CNG is the best value in Maruti's Nexa CNG range. See our Brezza CNG guide for the Brezza CNG vs Fronx CNG on-road comparison.

Best Performance Zeta Turbo MT — Best Driving Fronx ~₹9.80L ex / ~₹11.51L Delhi — 1.0L Turbo 98.69 bhp, 6MT, Only Maruti Turbo

The Fronx is the only Maruti car with a turbo-petrol engine — the 1.0L Boosterjet produces 98.69 bhp and is paired with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. This engine is also used in the export market Fronx sold in Japan with ADAS and AWD. The turbo's peak torque (148Nm) arrives at 2,000 rpm — giving the Fronx genuine low-end punch that no naturally aspirated Maruti can match. The 6MT is the recommended transmission for the turbo — the gear ratios are well-spaced for both city driving and highway overtaking, and the shift quality is crisp by Maruti standards. At ~₹9.80L ex-showroom, the Zeta Turbo MT sits at the performance sweet spot — full comfort features (sunroof, connected car, HUD) with the turbo engine at under ₹12L on road in Delhi. The turbo AT (₹11.84L ex) is recommended if you're primarily in city traffic.

Maruti Fronx Buying Tips — July 2026

  • 2 offers in Delhi July 2026 — always ask: 2 offers are available on the Maruti Fronx in Delhi for July 2026. Maruti Nexa offers typically include exchange bonus (₹20,000–35,000), corporate discount, and finance subvention. Combined savings of ₹30,000–60,000 possible
  • Bangalore buyers face ₹1.72L more than Delhi for the same top variant: Bangalore on road for the Alpha Turbo DT AT is ₹15.92L vs Delhi's ₹14.20L — a ₹1.72L difference. Karnataka's high road tax makes Bangalore one of the most expensive states for car purchases. If you have a Delhi or Rajasthan address, the on road savings are significant
  • Facelift expected 2026–27 — check before ordering: A Fronx facelift was spied testing in April 2026 — expected to bring a larger touchscreen and minor design updates. If the current Fronx is being offered at a discount, it's worth asking the dealer about facelift timeline before committing to a pre-delivery wait of 2+ months
  • The 1.2L petrol vs turbo decision depends on use: 1.2L NA petrol (22.89 kmpl, 88.5 bhp) is best for city-primary buyers who prioritise mileage and budget. 1.0L turbo (21.5 kmpl, 98.69 bhp, 148Nm) is for highway driving and buyers who enjoy spirited driving. The turbo's torque advantage is noticeable on inclines, overtaking, and 80–120 km/h highway cruising

Fronx Delta+ CNG in Delhi — 65 km daily commute, 1,800 km monthly. Real-world CNG mileage: 26.8 km/kg (ARAI 28.51). Monthly fuel cost: ₹4,698 at ₹70/kg CNG. My previous Baleno petrol at same distance: ₹11,160/month. The Fronx CNG saves ₹6,462/month versus petrol. At that saving rate, the CNG premium over the Delta petrol (₹70,000 approx) pays back in 11 months. The coupe-SUV styling gets compliments daily — nobody believes it's a CNG car. The guide's 28.51 km/kg claim holds up in real-world use with reasonable driving.

Zeta Turbo MT — bought specifically for the turbo engine. No other Maruti gives you this and the Fronx's 1.0L Boosterjet is genuinely fun to drive. On the Bangalore-Mysore expressway at 110 km/h in 6th gear, the car is relaxed and responsive — a very different experience from the 1.2L NA. The guide's point about the Bangalore price premium is accurate and painful — I paid ₹1.65L more than my Delhi-based colleague for the same variant. Karnataka road tax is genuinely punishing on car purchases.
